Press Statement Regarding the June 24 Elections

Ahmet Erdem, the Chairman of YASED International Investors Association representing the international investment companies directly investing in Turkey, congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was elected as the 13th President, and the parliament members of the 27th Period, in a statement he delivered regarding the results of the General Presidency and Parliamentary Elections held on June 24, 2018.

Erdem said: “The constitutional amendment that was accepted with a referendum held on April 16, 2017 will be executed and our country will undertake the transition to the new system. We would like to congratulate our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and all the candidates elected as Parliament Members for the 27th Period. We hope that this new period will bring prosperity to our country and nation.” Stating that Turkey recorded a historic level of participation to elect its 13th President and the 27th Period Parliament Members, Erdem added:

“As YASED, we wish that Turkey will welcome the future with prosperity. It is important for the new period, as well, to rapidly realize the economic and legal macro reforms that will help our country enhance integration into the global economy, sustain its development process and improve the investment landscape.

From now on, we need to sustain our efforts to improve the investment landscape steadily in order to increase our global competitive power across any field and ensure a sustainable flow of investments created as a result of long, meticulous efforts.

Therefore, prioritization of policies that will boost international direct investments is more important than ever for our country since such investments critically contribute to the efforts to increase our country’s export volume, position it as a regional investment hub and ensure sustainable economic growth.

As YASED, I would like to express our commitment to support all the economic and structural reforms to be undertaken to help our country realize these goals. We fully believe in our country’s potential as international investors.”
