YASED Chairman Ahmet Erdem, made a statement about the meetingsthey have made in Ankara and said:

“During our meetings in Ankara over the past days, we convened with the Minister of Industry and Technology Mr. Mustafa Varank, Minister of Commerce Ms. Ruhsar Pekcan and Head of the Presidential Budget and Strategy Directorate Mr. Naci Ağbal; and our sessions have been highly productive. We have focused on the structural reforms, which are urgently needed to attract more international direct investment to Turkey. It is crucial that the digital transformation in industry be accelerated and that the existing incentive programs be applied more intensively to these projects. A part of our efforts aimed at positioning our country as a regional hub, we consider the broadening of incentives critical in order to enhance the R&D efforts of international corporations and improve their value-added.  We have shared our suggestions with the ministers, aimed at the implementation of a localization model; such a model would target the improvement of R&D efficiency of Turkey within the global competitive environment, enable its integration with the global research network and thereby position Turkey as a provider of value-added products and services.

We have also touched upon the issues of EU membership, the efforts towards improvements in the modernization of Customs Union process for Turkey and precautions to deal with the impact of Brexit. The mechanism of close communication and information flow between the public and private sectors is highly important for the development of a national position on all the matters discussed.

As YASED, we believe that the new presidential government system will contribute to the speedy implementation of the steps and reforms, towards the economic and social advancement of our country. As before, we will continue to work as a solution partner of the public sector for more investment, production, exports and jobs in our country.”
